BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia on Wednesday expressed deep shock at the loss of huge lives in a building collapse near Savar bus stand on the outskirt of the capital.
In a condolence message, Khaleda, also leader of the opposition in parliament, said “I’m disheartened and saddened like the country’s people over the killing and injuries to a huge number of people in the collapse of Rana Plaza at Savar, Dhaka.”
“I don’t have words to express my shock over such a tragic and shocking incident,” the former premier added.
Khaleda asked the authorities concerned to make arrangements for the quick and proper treatment of the injured in the incident and prayed for their early recovery.
She also prayed for salvation of the departed souls and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family members.
Some 100 bodies were recovered from the debris of the building, ‘Rana Plaza’, that collapsed all of a sudden after a big bang around 9.00am.
