BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia paid tribute to the martyred intellectuals by placing wreath at the Martyred Intellectuals’ Memorial at Mirpur in the capital marking the Martyred Intellectuals Day on Friday.
Khaleda, flanked by members of the standing committee of her party, placed wreath at the memorial at around 9:20am.
She along with the party leaders and workers stood in solemn silence for some time to pay respect to the sacrifice of the martyred intellectuals.
BNP standing committee members Dr Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Barrister Moudud Ahmed, Tariqul Islam, Nazrul Islam Khan and Barrister Rafikul Islam Mia were present, among others.
Earlier, President Zillur Rahman and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina paid tributes to the martyred intellectuals at the Martyred Intellectuals’ Memorial.
