The BNP chairperson has called out to activists throughout the country to prepare for anti-government movement
BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has issued an “organisational red alert” and has asked party activists throughout the country to prepare to move against the government.
“I am calling activists and leaders all over the country to prepare for movement. I am issuing an organisational red alert,” she said speaking at a rally on Thursday.
Pointing to the recent abductions and killings, Khaleda said she will come down to the streets herself to move for the security of the people. “No one is safe now.”
“Now is the time to build a resistance against the government. People will besiege those who carry out abductions and killings, be it police or RAB,” she said.
Khaleda Zia was speaking at a rally of the Sramik Dal at Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital.
“They (AL) always say that BNP is a group of militants. But, now it has been revealed that it is indeed they who are affiliated with militancy.”
She was referring to the incident in Trishal, Mymensingh where a policeman was killed to snatch away three condemned militants. RAB said the incident was organised by Jubo League.
“This country has lost its freedom under their repression, abductions and killings,” she added.
“If you want to save the country,” she indicated to Sheikh Hasina, “you must immediately call fresh election under a non-partisan government. Whoever wins, shall be voted to power.”
“This illegal government is responsible for the situation of Narayanganj today. Why could they not find them alive? Hasina will have to answer for this.”
“Bodies are now surfacing in the rivers today. We want to know where is Ilias Ali today?”
The Sramik Dal rally, that began in the afternoon, observed a moment of silence in solidarity to the victims of Rana Plaza disaster.
BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia met some of the Rana Plaza victims on stage.
BNP acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Moudud Ahmed, Mirza Abbas, Sadeque Hossain Khoka and others were present.
