BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia took Iftar with leaders of different political parties on the third day of Ramadan on Wednesday.
The BNP chief hosted the Iftar party at the city’s Bashundhara Convention Centre in honour of the politicians.
Entering the venue around 6:35pm, Khaleda, also a former Prime Minister, exchanged pleasantries with the guests.
Leaders of Bikalpa Dhara Bangladesh (BDB), Krishak Sramik Janata League, Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (Rab) and Nagarik Oikya apart from the BNP-led 20-party ones joined the programme.
Though senior leaders of the ruling party, including its president and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, were invited to the Iftar party, no one of them joined it.
LDP chief Oli Ahmed, Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal president ASM Rab, general secretary Abdul Malek Ratan, Khelafat Majlish chairman Moulana Mohammad Ishaq, Islami Oikya Jote chairman Abdul Latif Nezami, Bangladesh Jatiya Party chairman Andaleeve Rahman Partho, Kalyan Party chairman Syed Mohammad Ibrahim, Krishak Sramik Janata League general secretary Habibur Rahman, BDB secretary general Major (retd) Abdul Mannan, Nagarik Oikya Convener Mahmudur Rahman Manna, Jamaat central leader Abdul Halim and Jatiya Party (Zafar) senior leader TI Fazle Rabbi, among others, joined the Iftar.
BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, standing committee members Dr RA Gani, Moudud Ahmed, Tariqul Islam, Jamiruddin Sircar, ASM Hannan Shah, Mirza Abbas, Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan, Nazrul Islam Khan, BNP vice chairmen M Morshed Khan, Abdullah Al Noman, Alatf Hossain Chowdhury and Selima Rahman were also present.
Khaleda will also host an Iftar party for the professionals and eminent citizens at the same venue on Thursday.
