BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has dubbed Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina as ‘Lady Hitler’.
She has also called for prayers to ‘safeguard people of the country’ from the present government.
Khaleda was addressing guests at an Iftar party, organised by the Jatiya Party faction led by Kazi Zafar Ahmed, in Dhaka on Saturday.
“Let us all pray during this month of Ramadan so that may Allah save us from the oppressive, autocratic, corrupt (government) and from the ‘Lady Hitler’,” she said.
The Jatiya Party faction is a member of the BNP-led 20-party alliance.
Former prime minister Khaleda Zia urged all political parties to be united against the government.
“Top leaders of many political parties are present here. I shall request all of them to sit together, as we have been united here on the occasion of Ramadan, to explore possibilities of joining hands in future to reduce the sufferings of the country and the people.”
At the programme, she expressed her sorrow and sympathy to the families of those who died in flash floods and landslides in Cox’s Bazar and Bandarban.
Top leaders of different political parties of the 20-party alliance, among others, joined the Iftar party.
