Khaleda distorting history: Inu

Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu accused BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia of trying to distort history like military rulers to confuse people.

“BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia is spreading lies keeping Bangabandhu and the history in exile. She’s also marketing misleading theories claiming Ziaur Rahman as the first president and proclaimer of the independence,” he said.

The minister was addressing the 36th memorial meeting of Comrade Shukhendu Dastidar arranged by Samyabadi Dal at the Jatiya Press Club.

Inu, also the president of Jatiya Samjtantrik Dal, said, “Comrade Shukhendu Dastidar was always vocal against military rules throughout his life.”

He alleged that Khaleda along with Jamaat and Hefazat is trying to hinder the government’s efforts to build the country with the spirit of the Liberation War.

About the BNP chairperson’s call for holding a dialogue for a fresh election, Inu said there is question of holding any dialogue with BNP an over election.

“We’d tried to hold talks before the January-5 election. Now there’s no need for talks over the polls. No election will be held in Bangladesh before 2019,” he added.

Calling upon Khaleda to part the company of Jamaat and militancy, Inu said, “As long as you’re associated with Jamaat-Hefazat militants, you can’t be a member of the democratic club.”

Chaired by general secretary of Shamyabadi Dal (M-L) Dilip Barua, the meeting was addressed, among others, by Comrades Haroon-ur-Rasid, Dhiren Singh and Advocate Biren Shaha.
