Khaleda attends Iftar party: 20-party united against ruling party

Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chairperson Khaleda Zia on Wednesday categorically said the 20-party alliance is united against the incumbent repressive government.
The BNP chief, also former premier of the country, urged the people to pay their support in ousting the government.
Khaleda made the assertion while addressing an Iftar Mahfil with the political leaders, members from civil society, professionals and journalists, organized by Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami in a city hotel.
The BNP chairperson claimed that now there is no guaranty of life of the people. They are to keep fasting, a religious occasion of Muslims, without taking food.
The Awami League-led government has also broken down the country’s economy, she also claimed.
Khaleda blamed the incumbent government saying that they have destroyed the country as bank loots, murders as well as kidnapping have became common phenomena in the country.
The people of the country want to be free from the repressive government, she added.
Khaleda assured that the 20-party alliance is united to bring the voting rights and democracy in Bangladesh.
She urged the people to be united to enforce tough movement after Eid-ul-Fitr.
BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) president Colonel (retd) Dr Oli Ahmad, BNP standing committee member RA Gani, Barrister Jamir Uddin Sircar, MK Anwar, eminent poet Al Mahmud and prominent journalist Shafique Rehman were among others.
Jamaat-e Islami’s Nayabe Ameer Mujibur Rahman presided over the meeting.
Earlier , on Tuesday, Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia said they will launch movement to overthrow the government after the forthcoming Eid,.
Addressing an Iftar party hosted by Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), at Ladies Club in the city , she asked the government to hold discussions without any delay to ensure free and fair elections. “Don’t threaten us with guns. Guns can become atrocious, you may have been punished brutally, you have to atone for your actions in future.” she said,
Khaleda Zia said the country has no law and order as it has no legitimate government. Awami League cannot control its activists who are doing looting and oppressing others.
LDP president Oli Ahmed and secretrary general Redwan Ahmed, BNP standing committee member MK Anwar, MA Gani and Nazarul Islam Khan, among others, were present.
BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia took Iftar with editors and heads of different media outlets on Sunday.
Khaleda, also a former prime minister, hosted the Iftar party in honour of editors of different dailies and news agencies, radio and TV channels at a Westin Hotel in Dhaka.
Entering the Iftar party venue, Khaleda exchanged pleasantries with the invited guests moving around different tables.
The party was followed by dinner.
A munajat or special prayer was offered before the Iftar seeking peace and prosperity of the country.
The BNP chairperson took Iftar flanked by News Today editor Riaz Uddin Ahmed, Samakal editor Golam Sarowar, Sangram editor Abul Asad, senior journalists Shafique Rehman, Amanullah Kabir, New Age editor Nurul Kabir, Channel I head of news Shaikh Siraj, CEO and chief editor Boishakhi TV Monjurul Ahsan Bulbul, and Bangladesh Protidin editor Nayeem Nizam.
Besides, Holyday’s Syed Kamal Uddin, Sakaler Khabar’s Mozammel Hossain, Din Kal’s Dr Rezwan Siddiqui, Alokita Bangladesh’s Shahjahan Sarder, Amader Orthoneeti’s Nayeemul Islam Khan, Jugantar’s Saiful Alam, Dhaka Tribune’s Zafar Sobhan, Ekattur TV’s Syed Ishtiaque Reza, ntv’s Khairul Anwar, Bangla Vision’s Mostafa Firoz, Asian TV’s Nadim Quader, ATN Bangla’s JE Mamun, ATN News Munni Shaha and Desh TV’s Arif Hasan, among others, joined the Iftar party.
BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, senior leaders Moudud Ahmed, Barrister Jamiruddin Sircar, Tariqul Islam, Hannan Shah, Abdul Moyeen Khan, Mirza Abbas and Nazrul Islam Khan were also present.
