BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia called upon the freedom fighters to encourage the young generation to take to the streets for saving democracy and the country imbued with the spirit of the Liberation War.
The former premier exchanged views with freedom fighters on Wednesday night and discussed the country’s latest political situation, recent election and her party’s next course of action.
As part of her meetings with a cross-section of people of society, the BNP chairperson sat with the delegation of the pro-BNP freedom fighters at her Gulshan political office around 9pm.
According to meeting sources said Khaleda justified her alliance’s decision of boycotting the January 5 election and urged the freedom fighters to work together putting behind past conflicts and differences for intensifying the 19-party movement to force the current ‘illegal’ regime to quit and arrange a fresh national election with the participation of all parties.
She also took the opinions of the freedom fighters as to how BNP can strengthen the movement and gear up the party activities.
The freedom fighters suggested Khaleda to continue their peaceful movement and reconstitute the committees of the party and its associate bodies, inducting the dedicated and active party leaders.
