The Jamaat-e-Islami has denounced any link with the al-Qaeda and claim that the latest audio clip said to have originated from the terrorist organisation was a conspiracy.
The declaration was made in a press statement on Sunday soon after Hefazat-e Islam refused any link with the Afghanistan-based militant organisation.
“Jamaat and Islami Chhatra Shibir does not have any affiliation with terrorism, militancy or irregular activities,” the statement read.
“We fear the so-called al-Qaeda clip is a new conspiracy against the religious people of Bangladesh. Those who want to fish in troubled waters are the ones usually oppressing Islamists speaking of militancy and terrorism.”
“Reports run on links between al-Qaeda and Jamaat-e-Islami are completely false.”
The statement was issued on Sunday signed by Mohamamd Ibrahim, from Jamaat’s central publicity department. “We denounce any militancy.”
“We do not know if the Alem society and mainstream Islamist organisations in Bangladesh to have affiliations with the al-Qaeda.”
