Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islamihas called countrywide hartal for September 18 and 21 in protest at the life term imprisonment for its nayeb-e-amir Delwar Hossain Sayedee.
Appellate division on Wednesday sentenced Sayedee to life until his death commuting his death sentence.
Jamaat’s acting amir Moqbul Ahmad and acting secretary general Shafiqul Islam Masud on Wednesday in a statement declared 48-hour-shutdown in 2 phases.
According to the statement, first phase 24-hour hartal will start on Thursday 6:00am while the second phase will start on Sunday 6:00am.
The party also announced other programmes that are: prayer sessions in home and abroad seeking “relief from the torture and repression of the government” on Friday; nationwide demonstration on Saturday.
