Jamaat Ameer: Bangladesh’s friendship with China will grow stronger

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Ameer, Dr Shafiqur Rahman has said that China’s role in Bangladesh’s development is undeniable and that the friendship between Bangladesh and China will grow stronger.

He praised the assistance provided by the Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh’s impoverished population and expressed hope for China’s more active involvement in the country’s education and technology sectors in the future.

He emphasized the need for an advanced academy in Dhaka to teach the Chinese language, which would strengthen Bangladesh-China relations.

On Sunday at 11am, during a winter clothing and food distribution event in the Wami Complex area near Safipur Bazar in Kaliakair, Gazipur, Dr Shafiqul Rahman made these comments as the chief guest.

The event was attended by the Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh, Mr Yao Wen, as a special guest.

He further remarked that providing assistance to the poor is a noble act.

He prayed to Allah for a change in their fortunes, so they could help others in the future.

During his special address, Chinese Ambassador Yao Wen praised Jamaat-e-Islami’s humanitarian activities and mentioned that the orphanages and educational institutions run with Jamaat’s support are blessings for poor and orphaned children.

He also said that China is eager to offer training opportunities in China for these students.

He also said that China aims to work in Bangladesh’s healthcare, education, and power generation sectors, among others.

“We will stand by Bangladesh’s overall development,” he said.

The year 2025 will mark the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Bangladesh, and he assured that the relationship would grow even stronger.

He described the Bangladesh-China friendship as a shining example, stating that the roots of their relationship go back to the time of the famous traveler Xuanzang.

Since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1976, the friendship between the two countries has grown stronger.

In recent decades, China has collaborated with Bangladesh on various large projects, including the China-Bangladesh Friendship Bridge, the Karnaphuli Tunnel, and providing technical assistance for the Padma Bridge.

Other examples include cooperation in roads, rail, and power sectors, and the provision of Sinopharm vaccines under COVID-19 protocols.

These initiatives reflect China’s friendly cooperation with Bangladesh.

It is hoped that China’s humanitarian and developmental assistance will increase in the future, further deepening and strengthening the bilateral relationship.

In the morning at Wami Complex, Safipur, Gazipur, winter clothing in the form of blankets was distributed to the cold-stricken people, courtesy of the Chinese Embassy.

Jamaat-e-Islami also distributed food items such as flour, rice, and pulses.
