Information Minister Hasanul Haque Inu on Friday called the Savar tragedy that killed at least 304 people as a murderous act.
“I wouldn’t call it an accident. I would say it’s a murder,” Inu said while talking to journalists after a meeting with the officials of Kushtia General Hospital at Kushtia Circuit House in the morning.
The death toll from the building collapse has risen to 304 till afternoon as the frantic search for the trapped people under the rubble is still going on.
The ministers said it is a serious offence to keep the factories running and showing disregard to all sorts of safety measures and regulations only for earning profits.
He said the owners of the factories are involved in the murder.
“We (government) won’t take any administrative decision against the responsible persons considering their face or party affiliation,” he said.
“Those who are responsible, no matter what face they have or party they affiliated with, will have to go to jail.”
