Chiefs of police and other law enforcement agencies of South Asia and the neighbouring countries began the International Police Chief’s Conference on Sunday.
The conference aims to fix a regional strategy to combat militancy, extremism and other types of transnational crimes.
Bangladesh police in hosting the conference in collaboration with Interpol.
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan formally opened the conference as the chief guest on Sunday morning.
Chiefs of police and other law enforcement agencies or their representatives from 15 countries, including hosts Bangladesh, are attending the 3-day conference.
The other participating countries are –Afghanistan, Australia, Bhutan, Brunei, China, India, Indonesia, the Maldives, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, South Korea, Sri Lanka and Vietnam.
High officials of Interpol, Facebook, American IGCI and FBI, and ASEANPOL and International Criminal Investigative Training Assistance Program (ICITAP) are also going to participate in the conference which will end on Tuesday.
