Former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly is likely to be appointed as Team India’s ‘High Performance Manager’ during their tour to Bangladesh this June.

After the IPL 2015 final, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has arranged a series of meetings which will be deciding on this post that is likely to be offered to Ganguly.

This might be a short term assignment, but if Ganguly is appointed then BCCI would be employing a high-profile former cricketer as Team India’s coach-cum-mentor for the first time.

The committee that decides on tours and fixtures will meet to finalise the dates of Team India’s next couple of tours following the Bangladesh tour, which is supposed to be to Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka. The same committee will also draw a domestic calender.

BCCI secretary Anurag Thakur will meet president Jagmohan Dalmiya to decide on this crucial post ahead of the Bangladesh tour and the announcement is likely to be made on Monday. This all-important post will be offered to Ganguly for a short period as he also holds the post of joint secretary in the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB).

If Ganguly comes on board as the ‘High Performance Manager’ then it would be interesting to see whether assistant coaches Sanjay Bangar and Bharat Arun retain their posts.

The Governing Council of IPL will also meet after the IPL 2015 final to review the season and talk about its future plans. This meeting will be followed by another informal meeting of the officials of Cricket Australia and South African Cricket Board, where the future of the Champions League Twenty20 (CLT 20) will be decided.
