Huda wants Fazlul Azim as interim-govt head

Former Communications Minister Nazmul Huda on Monday proposed making lone independent MP Fazlul Azim the head of the polls-time cabinet to resolve the ongoing crisis over the issue.

“Fazlul Azim has become acceptable to the ruling and opposition parties as an independent MP. The President can appoint him as the Prime Minister to the polls-time administration as per the article 56 (3) of the constitution,” he said.

In a bid to put an end to the controversy over the head of the polls-time cabinet, the former BNP leader came up with the proposal at a press conference at his office.

Justifying his proposal, Huda said the election-time cabinet can be formed without amending the constitution in the light of counter proposals made by the both the Prime Minister and the opposition leader.

Fazul Azim, also a former BNP leader, was elected MP in the ninth parliamentary elections as an independent candidate from Noakhali-6 constituency.

On June, 6, 2012, Huda resigned from BNP in protest against party chief Khaleda Zia’s failure to engage in talks with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina as per his proposal.
