Results of this year’s Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations will be published on Saturday, ending the ‘long wait’ of a million students.
Education ministry’s Senior Public Relations Officer Subodh Chandra Dhali on Friday told bdnews24.com that Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid along with Chairmen of all education boards will hand over copies of the results to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at around 10am on that day.
Nahid will later officially announce the results at a press conference at the Secretariat, Dhali added.
Students will be able to know their results after 2pm.
As per the ministry’s announcement the results is being published within 60 days of the tests as it has been done every year.
A total of 41 subjects were rescheduled this year due to shutdowns, political turmoil and cyclone Mahasen. The various Education Boards had even trouble evaluating the answer scripts due to more shutdowns and political unrest.
Over 10,12,581 candidates took part in the examinations held under eight general boards, Alim under Madrasa Board and HSC Vocational/BM (Business Management) and DIBS under Technical Board.
The candidates can also get their result by sending SMS to number 16222 with text ‘HSC’ followed by space then first 3 letters of the respective education board followed by space again and then roll number.
For example: hsc dha 123456 2013 and send to 16222.

Helal Uddin Panna, an assistant teacher of Adrasha High School in the Kushtia town, is reported to have raped some school and college girls, who came to his house at Aruapra for private tuition, the officials said. The Detective Branch team of Dhaka, team led by assistant commissioner Rayhan, arrested Panna at a rented house on Chinu Miah Road about 12:30am. Subinspector Robiul Islam traced the whereabouts of the teacher accused of the crime that has triggered wide protests. On July 7, hundreds of local people and students in the district headquarters went on demonstrations and blocked the Kushtia–Rajshahi Highway in Barkhada-Trimohani in the upazila, demanding the arrest of the schoolteacher and four others, who are also reported to have raped some schoolgirls and released the video footage online and as video clips for mobile.
Four of his associates — Alimuzzaman Tutul, executive engineer at the Islamic University, Kushtia Juba League leader Monirul Islam, Dulal Hossain, assistant engineer of LGED in Jessore, and Shariful Islam Sajal, assistant engineer of the Gangni LGED — were also involved in the crime committed in his house, local people said adding that they had filmed the rape incidents with hidden video camera and released the clips. Kushtia police sub inspector M Monirul Islam on July 7 filed a case against five people, including Panna, under the Pornography Control Act 2012. The police also also seized Panna’s laptop that had the video clips.
