The cabinet on Monday approved a proposal to increase monthly allowance for all freedom fighters honoured with different titles for their gallantry during the 1971 Liberation War.
According to the proposal, the successors of freedom fighters who have been honoured with ‘Bir Shrestha’ title will now receive Tk 12,000, ‘Bir Uttam’ Tk 10,000, ‘Bir Bikram’ Tk 8,000 and ‘Bir Pratik’ Tk 6,000 per month.
Currently, the families of Bir Shresthas are getting Tk 200, Bir Uttams Tk 150, Bir Bikrams Tk 125 and Bir Pratiks Tk 100.
During the regular weekly meeting, presided by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the cabinet also approved the draft of Vested Property Return (amendment) Ordinance 2013.
Cabinet Secretary M Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan briefed journalists after the meeting held at the Secretariat.
