Home Minister Muhiuddin Khan Alamgir on Wednesday said the prevailing law and order situation in the country is satisfactory.
“We think the law and order situation is satisfactory. The violence, taken place at several places following the pronouncement of verdicts by the International Crime Tribunals are sporadic incidents,” he told reports after a meeting of cabinet committee on law and order held at his ministry.
Jamaat-Shibir men set to afire and damaged a number of vehicles and set off several dozens of crude bombs at several places across the country in last three days.
The government effectively tackled the incidents occurred across the country centering the verdicts of ICT in the last two days, the Home Minister said.
About the progress of investigation into labour leader Aminul killing case, MK Alamgir said the Home Ministry has already announced bounty for providing information about the whereabouts of the killers of Aminul.
“We had expected that the killers of Aminul would be arrested soon. We’ve already withdrawn six cases against Kalpana Akhter and Babul Akhter who had been implicated in the Aminul killing case,” the minister said.
Asked whether any delegation from India will come to repatriate Ulfa leader Anup Chetia, he said he has no knowledge about it.
Chaired by the Home Minister, the meeting was attended, among others, by Law Minister Barrister Shafique Ahmed, State Minister for Home Shamsul Haque Tuku, Labour Minister Rajiuddin Raju, and the heads of different law enforcement agencies.
