Hefajat-e Islam will hold a rally at Shapla Chattar in the capital on December 24 to press home its controversial 13-point demand.
Junaid Babunagari, secretary general of Hefajat, made the announcement at a press briefing at the group’s headquarters at Hathazari Qawmi madrasa in Chittagong this evening.
The 13-point demand include reinstating the phrase “Absolute trust and faith in the Almighty Allah” in the constitution as one of the fundamental principles of state policy and passing a law keeping a provision of capital punishment for maligning Allah, Islam and Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and smear campaigns against Muslims.
Hefajat had originally planned the rally for November 15 but it postponed the programme due to holy Ashura.
Reading out a written statement at the briefing, Babunagari said they would stage demonstrations in districts and upazilas across the county on November 29, reports our Chittagong correspondent.
