Hefajat-e-Islam Bangladesh today demanded that the Advisory Council be reformed, along with state reforms.

The organisation’s Ameer, Muhibbullah Babunagari, and Secretary General, Sajedur Rahman, made the demand in a statement sent to the media.

In the statement, they also said, “Based on our observations over the past six months, we believe that alongside state reform, the restructuring of the Advisory Council has become essential. The incompetence and failure of most advisers have already become evident. Many lack the spirit of the July Revolution. Instead of working to abolish the fascist system, some are merely enjoying their suddenly acquired positions.”

This situation cannot continue for long. Uncertainty is growing among the people, they said.

“Therefore, we strongly urge the chief adviser of the interim government to remove the incompetent individuals and appoint competent and revolutionary-minded persons to the Advisory Council to address the ongoing multi-dimensional crisis,” the Hefazat leaders stated.

The leaders further said, “The Awami League must be banned through judicial proceedings as a genocidal fascist party. The interim government should outline specific strategies and plans in coordination with all anti-fascist forces.”

No social or political activities should be allowed under the Awami identity, they said.

Regarding the national election, the leaders said, “Differences over the election have intensified. We believe it cannot be dependent on the will of a single group or individual. Rather, the parliamentary elections must be held based on adequate state reforms, justice for genocide, national consensus, and the spontaneous demand of the people.”

They added that the state structure must be reformed while preserving the faith, beliefs, religion, culture, education, and civilisation of the country’s majority Muslim population.

In the statement, the Hefazat leaders also demanded the immediate withdrawal of all “false cases” filed against their leaders and activists during the fascist regime.
