The High Court has issued a rule upon the authorities of Dhaka University and UGC chairman asking why the system of baring candidates from appearing twice at the university’s entrance exam should not be declared illegal.
An HC bench comprising of Justice Farah Mahbub and Justice Kazi Md. Ejarul Haque Akondo issued the rule on Monday afternoon, responding to a writ petition.
The court also asked “why the aspirants should not be given a second chance to appear in the intake exam.”
Eight respondents, including DU vice-chancellor, registrar, syndicate members and UGC chairman, were asked to submit explanations by two weeks.
Lawyer Shubhroto Chowdhury said twenty-six guardians had filed the writ on March 12.
On October 15 last year, DU authorities decided to bar the admission seekers from appearing in the intake test twice.
