HC invalidates candidacies of 3 BNP leaders
The Appellate Division has invalidated the candidacies of several other candidates
The High Court has invalidated the candidacies of three BNP leaders because they did not resign from their positions, as upazila chairmen, to contest the upcoming 11th general polls.
A High Court bench—comprised of Justice JBM Hasan and Justice Md Khairul Alam—gave the order during the hearing of separate writ petitions on Wednesday.
The BNP leaders are Abdul Aziz of Natore 4 constituency, Faruk Kabir of Gaibandha 4, and Manjur Elahi of Narsingdi 3.
Deputy Attorney General Motahar Hossain Saju represented the state at the hearing.
Earlier, the Appellate Division had invalidated the candidacies of several candidates.
Consequently, the High Court invalidated the candidacies of these BNP leaders after the hearings of the writ petitions filed by rival candidates.
