Hasina-Khaleda phone talks need to be made public: Inu

Information Minister Hasanul Haque Inu on Monday said the telephonic conversation of the Prime Minister and the Opposition Leader should be made public.

“Some newspapers have published the conversation partially. This should be made public,” the Information Minister said this while talking to reporters at his office on Monday.

Replying to a question, Inu said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia had talks over initiating a dialogue for resolving the ongoing political crisis and the dialogue may take place anytime.

Inu urged Khaleda Zia to withdraw the hartal as many Hajj returnees remained stranded at the airport. “Besides, the O Level examinations are being hampered due to the hartal. It should be withdrawn considering the interests of Hajj pilgrims, O Level and JSC examinees,” he said.

“Stop unleashing anarchy in the name of hartal and stop terming a legal government illegal. Join the dialogue with an open mind by giving up the condition of polls-time government formula,” he urged Khaleda.

Inu said Kahleda’s comment on government’s legitimacy at a rally and her call to the government employees not to obey the government order are not right.

“She only provoked the government staff against the government. Such statement does not go with her,” he added.

“People will treat you (Khaleda) a leader of terrorists, militants and a leader of Jamaat if the violence continues in the country in the name of hartal,” he said.
