BNP Dhaka city unit convener Mirza Abbas on Wednesday claimed that this government will not be able to withstand their movement as their Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s roar will shake Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s throne.
“We’ll see how many bullets this government has got in its store. We’ re ready to receive bullets in our chests, but what will you do when you’ll run out of your bullets? People won’t spare you, mind it,” he said.
Addressing a discussion at the Jatiya Press Club, the BNP leader further said, “The throne of Pakistani autocrat Ayub Khan had got shaken with Moulana Bhasani’s roar in 1969. This time, Sheikh Hasina’ s throne will get trembled with Khaleda Zia’s roar. You won’t be able to hang onto power.”
Bhasani Sangsad arranged the programme marking great leader Moulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhasani’s death anniversary.
Abbas, also a BNP standing committee member, criticised the government for what he said its growing repressive acts. “They (govt) want to suppress our movement by killing and attacking our leaders and activists and filing false cases against them.”
He urged the Prime Minister to stop repressive acts and shun autocratic attitude as the people of Bangladesh knows it very well how to oust an autocrat regime.
Hitting out at the ruling party for not observing Moulana Bhasani’s death anniversary, the BNP leader said Awami League is an ungrateful party. “Many political leaders would not have been leaders had Bhasani not born. It’s matter of regret that the death anniversary of that great leader is not nationally observed.”Abbas asked the ruling party whether they can deny Bhasani’s contributions to Awami League.
Recalling the contributions of Bhasani and BNP founder Ziaur Rahman to the country’s War of Independence, he said the two leaders will ever be remembered in the history of the country Liberation War. “No one will be able to erase the names of Moulana Bhasani and Ziaur Rahman from the hearts of people, no matter how much efforts they make for.”
