Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) will enforce a dawn-to-dusk hartal in Rangamati district on Wednesday protesting murder of two of its activists.
Ching Khai Mong Marma, 20, son of Paiching Marma and Paithui Marma, 21, son of Mong Shing Marma, were beaten up in an altercation at remote Sonaichhari village under Kawkhali upazila on Sunday evening.
Later, the duo succumbed to their injuries at the Chittagong Medical College Hospital on Monday evening, said Shayamol Kanti Barua, officer-in-charge of Kawkhali Police Station.
Announcing the programme from a rally in front of their district headquarters on Tuesday, JCD Rangamati district President Abu Shahdat Sayem, alleged that activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League were involved in the murder.
He claimed Ching Khai Mong Marma was the JCD general secretary of ward No 5 under Betbunia union Parishad and Paithui Marma was a member of the ward committee.
In protest to the killings, the JCD has called the general strike all over Rangamati district, reports our Rangamati correspondent.
