Gonojagoron Mancha and 11 student organisations including Chhatra Union, Chhatra Federation and Chhatra Front have called a daylong countrywide shutdown for Tuesday demanding death penalty to Ghulam Azam and other war criminals.
The call came shortly after former Jamaat-e-Islami chief Ghulam Azam was handed 90-year jail Monday for his role in the murder and genocide of the independence-seeking people of the land who were fighting occupation Pakistani army in 1971.
The 11 organisations convened a press briefing around 4:20pm in front of the National Museum near Gonojagoron Mancha at Shahbagh in the capital to announce the hartal.
Minutes later, Imran H Sarker, spokesperson for the Gonojagoron Mancha, announced that they will enforce hartal across the country on Tuesday.
