Police have arrested BNP Vice-Chairman M Hafizuddin Ahmed from in front of the National Press Club when he was leaving the after declaring the Opposition’s fresh demonstrations.
Detective Branch of police made the arrest sometime after 7pm on Sunday, DMP Deputy Commissioner (Media) Masudur Rahman told bdnews24.com.
Ahmed’s arrest came right after he announced that the Opposition will hold nonstop sit-in demonstrations across Bangladesh until the Jan 5 general elections.
At the media conference, he said the 18-Party alliance’s agitation will continue on Monday in Dhaka.
The announcement came hours after police obstructed Opposition Leader Khaleda Zia from going to BNP’s Naya Paltan headquarters to attend a proposed rally.
