A Dhaka Court on Tuesday issued warrant of arrest against the newly elected mayor of Comilla City Corporation and Bangladesh Nationalist Party leader Monirul Haque Sakku in a corruption case filed by Anti Corruption Commission.
The court also ordered to seize his wealth.
Judge Kamrul Hossain Molla of Metropolitan Sessions Judges Court passed the order Tuesday morning after taking into cognizance the charges framed against Sakku by the ACC.
ACC filed the case with Raman police station earlier on January 7 of 2008 for his alleged involvement in amassing TK. 4.57 crore and concealing wealth statement of Tk 1.12 crore.
ACC assistant director Nurul Huda pressed charge sheet against the mayor on February 4 in 2016.
