Home Minister Muhiuddin Khan Alamgir on Monday asked the deputy commissioner (DC) and the superintendent of police to go tough on terrorism and extortion in the hilly district.
He gave the directive while addressing a views-exchange meeting on proposed amendment to Chittagong Hill Tracts Land Dispute Resolution Commission Act with the elite of the society at the DC office conference room.
The minister also directed them to send weekly report to the respective ministries.
MK Alamgir said no terrorist act will be tolerated. “Arrest terrorists under the Terrorist Control Act 2013 and bring them to justice.”
Turning to the land dispute in the hilly region, he said the land dispute will be resolved according to the existing tradition of the hill tracts. “The government never undermined either Bengali people or Pahari people.”
The minister said the proposed amendment to the CHT Land Dispute Commission Act will make the law time-befitting.
Among others, Advisor to the Prime Minister Dr Gawher Rizvi and State Minister for CHT Affairs Dipankar Talukder were present at the meeting.
