Ganasanghati Andolan, on Friday inaugurated party’s three-month-long membership programme to increase its organisational strength.
Chief coordinator of the party Zonayed Saki inaugurated the drive at its central office at Hatirpool.
Inaugurating the programme, he said that the drive would continue for three months across the country to fulfil the target of collecting 50,000 members.
A representative conference of the organisation in the capital in November 27-29, 2015 decided to turn Ganasanghati Andolan into a political party, Saki said.
Ganasanghati will hold special representative meeting in the capital in April 27-28, where the name of the party and new central committee will be formed, Saki added.
Ganasanghati will also apply to the Election Commission for being a registered as a political party and it would continue its movements to restore the democratic rule in the country, Saki said.
Central leaders of the party Abdus Salam, Firoz Ahmed, Abul Hassan Rubel, Taslima Akhter, Bacchu Bhuiyan, Abu Bakar Ripon, Shyamoly Shill, Aparajita Dev and others were present.
