The Ganajagaran Mancha on Sunday threatened to enforce a six-hour nationwide shutdown on Tuesday if the killers of Faisal Arefin Dipan and attackers on Ahmedur Rashid Tutul, Ranadipam Basu and Tareq Rahim were not arrested by Monday.
The platform spokesperson Imran H Sarkar announced the ultimatum from a rally protesting the murder and series of attacks on publishers, writers and bloggers.
‘If the government fails to arrest the killers and attackers and the masterminds behind such crimes within Monday Ganajagaran Mancha would go for half-day strike across the country’ he said.
The government’s continuous failure to catch the criminals causes recurrence of such crimes, he said.
The platform would observe nationwide mourning day on Monday protesting the murder Faisal.
