Four died of coronavirus infection in the last 24 hours, Health Minister Zahid Maleque said today.
The death toll now stands at 50, the minister said during a briefing.
Two hundred and nineteen people have tested positive for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours. This is the highest number of people detected with the infection in a day so far in the country.
With this, the total number of infected has reached 1,231.
A total number of 1,740 samples were tested in the last 24 hours across the country, the minister also said.
Meanwhile seven more patients have recovered from the decease taking the total recovery number to 49.
Among the four deceased, three are male and one female, said Prof Dr Nasima Sultana, additional director general (administration) of Directorate General of Health Services, during the briefing.
Two of them were aged above 70, one was the 50-year old doctor of Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital and another was a cancer patient aged between 31-40, she also said.
