Foreign journos urged to uphold BD’s image abroad

State Minister for Foreign Affairs M Shahriar Alam has urged a group of visiting foreign journalists to uphold Bangladesh’s success stories achieved in the areas of socio-economy, education and health in their respective countries’ mass media.

 

“You can play a significant role in upholding Bangladesh’s positive image,” he said while interacting with 10 foreign journalists at a city hotel on Saturday night.

 

Shahriar also urged them to highlight the massive development initiative taken by the government.

 

Media personalities from Bangladesh were also present, said a Foreign Ministry media release on Sunday.

 

The foreign journalists arrived here on April 12 under the ‘Visit Bangladesh’ programme to know the country better through intensive interactions and celebrate Bengali New Year.

 

The  journalists are Galaa Gaballah, Board Chairman of Egyptian Gazette, Egypt, Mohssen Arishie, Egyptian Gazette, Egypt, U Myo Thant Oo, Editor-in Charge, Mizzi Journal, Myanmar, Abdullah Bozkurt, Ankara Representative, Today’s Zaman, Turkey,  Ozgur Ulusoy, Foreign News Director, Cumhuriyet, Turkey, Rita Payne, President, Commonwealth Journalist Association, UK, Raymond David Whitaker, Writer and Editor, UK, Victor Shibli, Publisher/Editor-in-Chief, The Washington Diplomat, USA,  Anand Holla, Feature Writer, Gulf Times, Qatar and Maneesh Bakshi, Correspondent, Qatar Tribune, Qatar.

 

The journalists also interacted with Foreign Ministry officials, visited different historic places in city and Cox’s Bazar, offices of some media outlets, the release added.
