A child under 10 among the deceased
Five people — including one child — died of coronavirus infection in the last 24 hours, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said today in a briefing.
The death toll now stands at 145, said Prof Dr Nasima Sultana, additional director general (administration) of DGHS.
Four hundred and eighteen have tested positive for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours.
With the latest, the total number of infected has reached 5,416.
Meanwhile, nine more have recovered, taking the total number of recovered patients to 122, she added.
Among the five deceased, three were male and two were female. Four of them were from Dhaka and another from outside.
Three of them were aged between 50-60 and one above 60, while another was a child under 10 years, the DGHS official said.
The child was suffering from kidney disease and died after being infected with Covid-19, she added.
A total of 1,164 people were put under isolation so far in the country.
Besides, 97,132 people have gone to quarantine in total so far and currently, 79,899 people are in quarantine, she said.
While speaking during online briefing, Dr Nasima assured that there is no scarcity of Covid-19 test kits.
“The government has been supplying adequate amount of kits across the country when necessary and there is enough supply of the kits,” she said.
