Fire breaks out in New Market area
There has been no reports of casualties, as of 11pm on Friday
A fire has broken out in a residential building near New Market in Nilkhet, Dhaka.
The fire broke out in building, named Biswas Builders, around 10:50pm on Friday, Fire Service officials confirmed to the Dhaka Tribune.
“Five units of fire fighters are currently working to douse the fire,” said Mahfuz Riben, duty officer at Bangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defence headquarters.
The fire official could not immediately confirm the cause of fire. “Our team is working there,” Mahfuj said.
As of 11:30pm, there has been no reports of casualties.
The fire created panic among the locals in the New Market area, which is home to one of the largest market places in the city.
