He said each warehouse had goods worth Tk 50,000 to Tk 60,000. The fire might have started from a short circuit, Biswas said.
The warehouse in Islambagh’s Baganbari stored toys and other plastic goods.
A fire service control room official Nilufar Yasmin told bdnews24.com that six fire fighting units tamed the flames 30 minutes after it had started at 11am.
Ali Akbar, owner of a warehouse, claimed a pile of waste behind the warehouses caught fire and that spread to the main storages.
He does not rule out arson by local rivals.
Details of the damage caused by the fire, a day after Eid, is not immediately known.
