The FBCCI made the appeal in a press release on Tuesday.
On Jan 30, a Chittagong court had sentenced to death 14 people including former industries minister and Jamaat chief Motiur Rahman Nizami and former state minister for state Lutfozzaman Babar in the sensational Chittagong arms haul case.
Jamaat initially called a daylong shutdown on Monday to protest the death sentence given to its chief.
But it postponed the strike to Thursday for the sake of Muslim pilgrims returning home from Biswa Ijtema, and the Saraswati Puja.
The FBCCI feels the shutdown would again lead to an economic and political crises, says the release.
It urged the Jamaat to withdraw the strike to let the country tide over its economic difficulties and speed up development, the release added.
