The FBCCI has voiced ‘deep conern’ over the burning a businessman to death after his business was vandalised and torched in Chapainawabganj on Monday amid the political instability in Bangladesh.
In a statement, it also urged the businessmen to stand united to prevent such acts and the government to ensure security.
Miscreants had on Monday set fire to the business establishment of Enamul Haq, President of Shibganj Upazila unit of the FBCCI. Enamul died in the arson attack.
The top business lobby also called on the government to arrest those responsible for the killing.
“We are pointing out with deep concern that miscreants are vandalising, setting fire to businesses and burning to death businesspersons during the current political instability,” it said in the statement.
“The FBCCI is strongly urging the business community to protest against the acts of these saboteurs and miscreants and resist them with all might and ability.”
The apex trade body also asked the government to provide highest security to all businesspeople and their businesses establishments in the interest of the economy.
Unrest has gripped Bangladesh for a few months over the discord of the two major political parties concerning the nature of the polls-time government.
Business has been severely hit by the violence, prompting the businesses to request the Bangladesh Bank to ask all schedule banks to reschedule their loans.
The trade body had also failed to bring the two major parties to negotiating table to resolve the crisis Bangladesh is facing.
