Leaders of the Awami League led 14-party alliance on Monday alleged that a fanatic force wants to create anarchy in the country again.
“The 14-party believes that a fanatic section wants to create anarchy in the country. We (14-party) would take a strong stance against communalism and anarchy,” said Awami League presidium member Mohammad Nasim.
He said this while addressing a press briefing after a meeting of the alliance at Awami League President Sheikh Hasina’s Dhanmondi political office in the city.
Nasim alleged that Hefazat-e-Islam wants to create anarchy again through its Dhaka Siege programme next month.
He condemned the bomb explosion near the hired-vehicle of Indian High Commissioner in Khulna and cocktail hurling at the house of Awami League leader Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif.
“It won’t be possible to divert people’s attention from the trial of war criminals by launching such attacks,” Nasim said.
The meeting decided to hold countrywide rallies from May 2 to May 4 protesting terrorism and anarchy “by the BNP-led alliance”. The meeting also decided to hold a solidarity meeting with women leaders on April 18.
Awami League joint general secretary Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif, organising secretaries AFM Bahauddin Nasim and Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, Workers party president Rashed Khan Menon, Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal president Sharif Nurul Ambia and Ganatantri Party general secretary Nurur Rahman Selim were, among others, present at the meeting.
