The High Court on Sunday granted bail for six months to BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir in five cases.
Police filed the cases with Ramna, Paltan and Shahjahanpur police stations on charges of vandalising vehicles, attacking police and blasting cocktails during an agitation programme on March 2.
The HC bench of Justice Md Rezaul Haque and Justice Gobinda Chandra Tagore granted the bail after hearing five separate bail petitions filed by Fakhrul.
Following the HC order, there is no legal bar to Fakhrul’s release from the jail, a counsel for the BNP leader said.
