Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed on Sunday said the export volume to neighbouring India would increase further if some complexities related to connectivity, infrastructure and tariff are removed.
“Bangladesh’s export to India is on the rise. It’ll increase further if connectivity, infrastructure and tariff related some complexities are removed,” he said.
The Commerce Minister came up with the remarks while addressing an international conference in the city.
Bangladesh Itihash Sammilani arranged the two-day conference titled ‘1971 and North-Eastern Indian States: Historicising and Contemporising Relationship’ at the Abdul Karim Sahitya Bisharad auditorium of Bangla Academy.
Tripura State Chamber of Commerce and Industry President ML Devnath, Asam State Chamber of Commerce and Industry Secretary Rupom Goswami, economist Dr Abul Barakat and Dr MM Akash also spoke at the programme held with businessman Abdul Matlub Ahmed in the chair.
On Bangladesh-China-India-Myanmar (BCIM) Economic Corridor, Tofail said Bangladesh would be benefited most from this regional connectivity initiative.
