The government has adequate funds for the construction of Padma bridge, says Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal.
“(Since) there is no financial problem, the construction of Padma bridge will materialise,” Kamal said while visiting the site in Munshiganj on Saturday.
He hoped the construction would be finished in three years.
Communications Minister Obaidul Quader, who was also present there, said work on the bridge would start this year.
Work order would be given soon after tender process is complete, he said.
The planning minister said the government had already allocated Tk 20.42 billion and the money would be spent by June.
Five elements are being taken up for the implementation of the project— Janjira approach road, Mawa approach road, accommodation, main bridge and river management.
Later, the ministers attended a meeting.
