The Bangladeshi government would fund Tk2,414 crore
The construction work of Dhaka Elevated Express Way would begin in next February, Communication Minister Obaidul Quader said Sunday.
After a contract signing ceremony organised by the bridge division authorities at the Setu Bhaban, the minister made the comment.
The programme was organised to sign the amended contract with the investor and construction company Italian Thai Development Public Limited (Ital-Thai Ltd).
Bridge Division Secretary Khandaker Anwarul Islam and President of Ital-Thai Ltd Premchai Karnasuta signed the contract of the project worth around Tk9,000 crore on behalf of their respective authorities.
Meanwhile, the government has already formed an individual public company named “First Dhaka Elevated Expressway (FDEE) Company Limited” to implement the project.
The Bangladeshi government would fund Tk2,414 crore out of the total expense to implement the most expensive project of the country.
A total of 20km long elevated express way from Shahjalal International Airport to Kutubkhali of Dhaka-Chittagong highway would be constructed under the project, sources said, adding that a total of 31 ramps will also be included in the elevated express way.
