Eid-ul-Azha was celebrated in several places in Satkhira, Jhenidah, Chandpur and Laxmipur districts yesterday in line with the “schedule of Saudi Arabia”.
However, Eid will be celebrated in the country tomorrow. The decision was taken at a meeting of the National Moon Sighting Committee held at the Baitul Mukarram conference room of Islamic Foundation on the evening of September 25.
According to reports, residents of 40 villages in Chandpur celebrated Eid following the Muslims in Saudi Arabia.
The festival was also celebrated in some villages in Matlab North, Shahrasti and Kochua upazilas of the district.
Maulana Abu Jafar Md Abdul Hye said the main congregation of Eid was held at 9am on the premises of Shadra Senior Fazil Madrasah.
A large number of devotees attended the congregation conducted by Abdul Hye’s eldest son Maulana Md Arif Chowdhury.
In Satkhira, Eid was celebrated in 15 villages in Tala, Kalaroa, Ashashuni, and Sadar upazilas.
The Eid congregation was held at Shaheed Abdur Razzak Park Municipality auditorium at 8am.
In Lakkhipur, Eid was celebrated in eight villages in three upazilas.
The villages are Noagaon, Joypura, Bigha, Dakkhinpara, Kalakopa, Bashikpur, Purbapanch Para and Mahadebpur.
In Jhenidah, Eid-ul-Azha was celebrated at Rishipara village in Harinakunda upazila.
Maulana Delwar Hossain conducted the Eid jamaat here in the morning.
