Eid already celebrated in many villages

Eid-ul-Fitr, the largest Muslim religious festival was celebrated at different places in Chandpur, Noakhali, Laxmipur Sherpur, Chittagong and Sunamganj on Thursday in line with Saudi Arabia and other Middle East countries.

 

As previous years, Muslim villagers at different places of the districts observed the Eid a day before the countrywide celebration.

 

In Chandpur, residents of 40 villages, mostly under Hajiganj and Faridganj upazilas, observed the Eid in with the people of Saudi Arabia. The tradition was also followed at some villages in Matlab North, Shahrasti and Kochua upazilas of the district.

 

Maulana Abu Jofar Md Abdul Hye, the eldest son of renowned Islamic cleric of Shadra Pak Darber Sharif, late Maulana Md Ishaque, said the main congregation of the Eid-ul-Fitr was held at 10.30 a.m. today on the premises of Shadra Senior Fazil Madrasah.

 

A large number of devotes attended the main Eid congregation which was conducted by Abdul Hye’s eldest son Maulana Md Arif Chowdhury.

 

Contacted, Maulana Abdul Hye said he himself conducted an Eid Jamaat at Olipur village under Hajiganj upazila around 11 am.

 

The devotees said they started fasting a day early and hence they observed the Eid a day before keeping harmony with the people of Saudi Arabia.

 

However, the inhabitants of the villages other than devotees of Pir of Shadra Darbar Sharif will celebrate along with the nation tomorrow (Friday).

 

The followers of Shardra Darbar Sharif have been following the tradition for the last 80 years.

 

In Chittagong, the Eid-ul-Fitr was celebrated in some 50 villages under Satkania, Chandanaish, Banshkhali, Boalkhali and Lohagora upazilas.

 

Followers of Pir Jahangir Darber Sharif participated in the Eid congregations held in each 10 villages of Satkania, Chandanaish and Patia upazilas, each eight villages of Bashkhali and Lohagora and two villages of Boalkhali.

 

In Sherpur, Muslims of seven villages of three upazilas celebrated the festival today.

 

The villages include Charkharchar, Munsirchar and Bamonerchar of Sherpur sadar upazila, Bangaon Chatal of Jhinaigati upazila and Nanni Madhypara and Chinamara of Nalitabari upazila.

 

Locals said the celebrators mostly are supporters of Ahale Hadith and devotees of Sureshhar Darbar Sharif.

 

The number of the celebrators of the Eid in line with Saudi Arabians is increasing gradually, they said.

 

In Laxmipur, followers of Moulana Ishak (Rm) observed the Eid-ul-Fitr in eight villages – Noyagaon, Joypura, Bigha, Dakkhin Para of Ramganj upazila, Kalakopa of Raypur Upazila, Bashikpur, Purba Panchpara and Mahadebpur of Sadar upazila.

 

In Noakhali, more than 200 families observed the Eid-ul-Fitr in 14 villages in Begumganj and Sadar upazilas. Besides, an Eid congregation was held in Moulvibazar Circuit House area where some 50 people participated in the Eid prayer.
