Dhaka University has expelled seven students who are members of banned outfit Hizb ut-Tahrir.
It also expelled nine others on different charges on Sunday.
Proctor Amzad Ali said the decision to expel them was taken during a Syndicate meeting.
He said six of them were arrested for helping admission seekers cheat in tests.
One was expelled for taking away an ATM card from the friend of a female student and intimidating him with the threat that she would be raped at Suhrawardy Udyan.
Another was expelled for sexual harassment of a female student.
Yet another was expelled for vandalism at Amar Ekushey Hall.
A teacher of the Institute of Modern Languages has also been expelled, Vice-Chancellor AAMS Arefin Siddique said.
Associate professor Ashraf-uz-Zaman was expelled as he was serving the German embassy as an employee.
