DMP not to allow rally at Suhrawardy Udyan Nov 7, 8

Dhaka Metropolitan Police on Thursday said that they would not allow any political parties to hold rallies at Suhrawardy Udyan on November 7 and 8.

‘We have decided not to allow any political parties to hold rallies at Suhrawardy Udyan as several political parties have sot permission for their programmes at the same time at the same venue,’ deputy commissioner (media and public relations) of DMP Masudur Rahman told New Age.

Opposition party Bangladesh Nationalist Party first sought permission from the DMP for holding a rally at Suhrawardy Udyan on 7 November to observe national revolution and solidarity day.

The party had announced that it would hold the rally at Suhrawardy Udyan and hoped the authorities would give them permission.

Backing off, BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi at a press briefing at its Nayapaltan central office on Thursday declared to hold the rally on November 8 at the same venue, reports UNB.

Rizvi urged the authorities concerned to give them permission as early as possible so that they could take proper preparations for it.

Earlier, when BNP announced to hold the rally on November 7, some Awami League leaders threatened to resist it.
