Talks can be held with the Opposition even after the formation of an all-party government, Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu has said.
“The door for dialogue is open. It can start any time,” Inu told a Tuesday news conference at the Secretariat.
BNP acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir had said on Monday that his party would not join the all-party government.
The Information Minister said if the dialogue was not possible before formation of the all-party government, it can be held afterwards.
“If the Opposition accepts this (all-party) government, their representatives will also be included in it,” he said.
Inu alleged that Opposition Leader Khaleda Zia wants a new Act to install the non-party neutral caretaker.
“She (Khaleda) is stubborn on the matter. This is dangerous for democracy and will undermine the Constitution.”
Ruling Awami League and BNP are at loggerheads over the shape of the interim government to oversee the parliament polls.
BNP wants the upcoming election under a non-party government by amending the Constitution but Awami League opposes it and wants an all-party interim body to conduct the polls.
