The construction work of Dhaka Elevated Expressway will start in late September this year and end by 2018, Communications Minister Obaidul Quader has said.
The minister told the reporters after the meeting with the president of Italian-Thai Public Limited Company Premchai Karnasuta and vice president of China Railway Construction Corporation (Int’l) Hu Fan, contractors of the elevated expressway, at Shetu Bhavan in the capital on Tuesday.
Procurement and mobilisation for the elevated expressway was already on, Quader informed the journalists.
Besides, China Railway Construction Corporation (Int’l) had hooked up with Italian Thai Development Public Limited Company, the minister said.
He further added that 40 acres of land had been found for rehabilitation of those adversely affected by the project and almost Tk135 crore had been handed over to the deputy commissioner, Dhaka, for distribution among the affected people.
As of now, almost Tk20 crore had already been distributed, he mentioned.
Bridges’ Division Secretary Khandaker Anwarul Islam was present during the meeting.
