Rapid Action Battalion director general favours appointment of ‘clean’ officers to the elite force in order to check incidents like Narayanganj 7 murders.
The RAB chief, Mokhlesur Rahman, made the observation before a 4-member committee, led by RAB additional director general (administration), Aftab Uddin Ahmed.
The committee, formed to probe into the Narayanganj 7-murder incident, submitted its report on 23 November to the attorney general for presenting it to the High Court.
According to the report, the RAB DG revealed his own steps in connection with the abduction and murder incidents.
He said to the committee the Narayanganj police superintendent sought his help to rescue the victims soon after the abduction incident on 27 April.
The DG claimed that he promptly ordered the RAB-11 commander Tareq Sayeed to rescue them, and Tareq said that he was trying accordingly. Mokhles also ordered other officers concerned for immediate measures and he monitored the development for himself.
